Overview
inktomd is built around a simple principle: your files are yours. We process documents to convert them to Markdown, and then we're done. We don't store your files, we don't build profiles, and we don't sell data. Here's exactly how everything works.
File Processing
Files you upload are processed in memory solely to perform the requested conversion. Files are permanently deleted immediately after conversion completes. We never store, share, or use your file contents for any other purpose including AI training.
Hosting & Infrastructure
Our frontend is hosted on Vercel, and our backend file processing runs on Google Cloud Run in the asia-south1 region. Files are securely transmitted to these servers over HTTPS for processing.
No User Accounts
inktomd does not require any registration or account creation. We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal identifying information. You are completely anonymous when using the free conversion service.
Rate Limiting
Free users are limited to 50 conversions per hour. This limit is enforced server-side to ensure fair usage and prevent abuse.
Cookies & Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use inktomd. This places cookies on your device. We display advertising through Google AdSense. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Theme Preference
inktomd stores your light/dark theme preference in localStorage. This is a functional preference stored locally in your browser and is not accessible to us.
Third-Party Services
- Vercel: Hosts our frontend website and delivers content quickly.
- Google Cloud Run: Securely powers our backend document conversion engine.
- Google Analytics: Provides aggregated, anonymous traffic data.
- Google AdSense: Serves relevant advertisements on the free tier.
International Data Transfers
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to—and maintained on—computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ. By using our service, you consent to this transfer.
Your Rights (GDPR/CCPA)
Depending on your location, you may have rights under the GDPR, CCPA, or other privacy laws to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal data. To exercise these rights or for any inquiries, contact us directly.
Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information.
